ADStem™ / Stem Cell 101

How stem cells help dogs heal.

Stem cells are the body's natural building blocks, unique because they can self-renew and transform into many different types of tissue to repair damage.

Think of these cells as tiny, smart "managers" that enter a painful joint and start giving orders to the body's own cells to fix the problem. They stop the cycle of damage that causes osteoarthritis — a condition where the protective cartilage in a joint wears away, leading to chronic pain and stiffness.

By using ADStem, which is specially designed from healthy donor cells, we can bypass the need for invasive harvesting surgeries on your pet while providing a consistent, high-quality dose of healing power. This technology has been proven in trials with over 250 dogs, showing that it can restore smooth movement and significantly improve a dog's happiness and activity levels, in most cases, for years.

The basics

The body's natural repair kit.

Stem cells are special "master cells" that have the amazing ability to renew themselves and transform into the different types of tissue a body needs. In nature, they act as an internal repair system, fixing worn-out parts.

For a dog with joint issues, these cells are particularly exciting because they can help rebuild the smooth surfaces inside a joint that have become rough and painful over time.

Approach

Moving beyond just "masking" pain.

Most pet owners are used to giving their dogs daily pills or supplements to help them walk more comfortably. While these are helpful, they mostly just mask the pain rather than address why it's there in the first place.

Stem cell technology represents a shift from just managing a disease to actually treating its root cause. Instead of just dulling the sensation of a stiff joint, these cells work to change the biological environment inside that joint.

They effectively reprogram the area from a state of constant breakdown to one of active repair. This means your dog isn't just feeling better because of a drug; they are moving better because their joint is physically becoming healthier.

How it works

Calming the fire of inflammation.

When a joint is affected by osteoarthritis, it becomes a very "angry" environment filled with inflammation that breaks down tissue. Stem cells act like biological peacekeepers.

Once injected, they release natural signals that tell the body's immune system to stop attacking its own joint tissue. This "rebalancing" act quickly reduces swelling and eases the sharp pain that makes your dog limp or hesitate to jump.

The most impressive part of stem cell technology is its ability to protect and even regrow cartilage — the "cushion" between bones. As these cells settle into the joint, they release bioactive factors that act like specialised instructions for your dog's own resident cells. These instructions tell the body to restart the production of a healthy joint matrix.

In laboratory studies, this regeneration process has been observed as early as three weeks after treatment. By stimulating this natural growth, the treatment helps restore the smooth, gliding surfaces needed for pain-free activity. It's a scientifically guided approach that helps your dog's body use its own biology to heal and regain long-term mobility.

Why ADStem is different
Off-the-shelf ADStem cells, ready to administer in a single injection without harvest surgery

A faster, pain-free experience for your pet.

In the past, stem cells had to be taken directly from your own dog through a separate, invasive surgery to harvest fat or bone marrow.

ADStem uses "allogeneic" technology, which means the cells come from healthy, screened donor dogs. This "off-the-shelf" method is much easier on your pet because it eliminates extra surgery, reduces the time they spend under sedation, and avoids any unnecessary healing delays.

Young, healthy donor dog — the source of carefully selected, quality-checked stem cells

Consistency you can count on.

Not all stem cells are created equal. When cells are taken from an older or sick dog, they might not be as strong or effective at healing.

By using cells from young, orthopedically healthy donors, ADStem ensures that every single dose is packed with high-potency healing factors. These donor cells are carefully selected and quality-checked in pharmaceutical-grade clean rooms to ensure they are safe and consistent for every patient.

Our industry-leading processes ensure your vet can be confident in the dose your dog receives, leading to more predictable and reliable results. It's a smarter way to deliver regenerative medicine that prioritises your dog's safety while maximising their chance at a full recovery.
